One psychic in order to hunt down a psychotic serial killer. The movie is directed by Afonso Poyart. John Clancy (Hopkins) portrays a retired police doctor who happens to have psychic powers, including the ability to see the future. Joe Merriwether (Jeffery Dean Morgan) a former FBI agents needs John’s help in finding a serial killer. John is teamed up with a partner FBI agent Katherine Cowles (Abbie Cornish) to find the killer. Later John realizes that killer also has same and greater psychic powers than his own. John muses “He sees things, only he is a lot better at it.” John also finds out that one thing that is common to every victim that they were suffering from diseases that eventually result in painful death. Finally comes killer Charles Ambrose (Farrell) who is always several steps ahead of the FBI team. The psychic elements are handled well. I liked the chemistry between Katherine and John reminds me of the movie Silence of the Lambs; FBI agent Clarice and Hannibal Lecter. The thrilling point is when the killer knows the future then how you are supposed to catch him. The second thing is the killer is doing a favor to the victims killing them with less agony. Both Hopkins and Farrell have done a great job. The movie is a dark thriller and I enjoyed a lot. The movie is on the same line as Se7en, Zodiac or The Silence of the Lambs. The movie is not a classic but clever serial killer.

This movie is periodic heartfelt drama, shot very beautifully tells a story of a lighthouse keeper and his wife living off the coast of Australia. They raise a baby which they rescue from an adrift rowboat. The movie is directed by Derek Cianfrance, who directed The Place Beyond the Pines earlier. The movie is based on the novel written by M.L. Stedman. The movie stars Tom Sherbourne (Micheal Fassbender) who has served heroically in World War 1 and works as a lighthouse keeper on the desolated area Janus Rock. He meets Isabel (Vikander) from a nearby village. They fall in love and soon they get married. They both found their soul mates who need each other. The movie is beautifully shot like an every frame should be painted and along with a lovely score by Alexandre Desplat. The natural surroundings, the sea, lighthouse everything is shot beautifully. Moving forward, the couple tries to have a child, but Isabel miscarries twice. The couple going through the trauma and all the sentiments, you can feel their pain. Then a baby washes up ashore on a dingy, along with a dead man. Isabel wants to keep the baby, Tom wants to report the incident and being responsible about the baby. Eventually, they raise the baby. A few years later Tom and Isabel meet Hannah (Weisz), a woman who is searching for her husband and daughter who went missing in the sea around the same time when they found the baby. Micheal Fassbender and Vikander are excellent throughout the movie. You can call me his fan and I can watch Michael Fassbender movies the whole day. The chemistry between both of them is flawless. This is definitely an emotional and well-constructed movie.

The movie is fantastic. The characters are fantastic. My favorite is the monkey. The movie is complete entertainment for both kids and adults. It’s the next big thing after Zootopia. This is the next big thing for Laika Entertainment. The movie is full-blown fantasy. It is a magical delight journey. The movie not only has great effects but also strong engaging characters. Some the best actors have lend their voices to this animated movie. The cast includes Charlize Theorn, Matthew McConaughey, Rooney Mara and Art Parkinson. The movie is set in ancient Japan. The movie tells a story of boy who plays an instrument called shamisen and a stack of origami paper, Kubo (Art Parkinson) who has a vivid imagination. The son of legendary samurai Hanzo, rocks shamisen which in turn causes the origami sheets to twirl around. The movie is enchanted with other characters like no nonsense monkey (Charlize Theorn), joke cracking giant samurai beetle (Matthew McConaughey), a vengeful monkey (Ralph Fiennes) and Rooney Mara as a pair of evil twin sisters. I did not want share the details of the movie as it will spoil the fun. The characters are great to watch. The animation is great. The movie is full of great moments. The music score is great and has richly elaborated shamisen theme. The movie has all the twist and turns that keeps the viewers to on the edge of their seats. The movie is directed by Travis Knight who has done a fabulous job.

The movie belongs to Mel Gibson who portrays a former convict and alcoholic who is trying to keep it together. The last time I saw Mel Gibson in Expendables 3 and I liked him portraying the gray shaded Stonebanks. Gibson is back with a bang this time. He delivers a great flawless performance. The movie is about John Link (Mel Gibson) who runs a tattoo parlor out of his trailer and tries to live a simple life until his estranged teenage daughter Lydia (Erin Moriarty) comes back into his life but with a secret. The things turn ugly when Link finds out that the drug cartel is hunting her down. The movie is based on this father-daughter relationship. The father who is trying to clean up his life meets his estranged teenage daughter in this unusual circumstances. There stands a father who is saving his daughter from all trouble. The movie is predictable and it’s the Gibson’s hardcore performance that elevates the movie. He looks great in the beard and in the action sequences. The movie is low budgeted so do not expect extraordinary stunts. The movie is more of drama and there is action in between. All the characters in this movie are strong. The pace of the movies dips a little in the second half with all the preaching scenes and where Gibson meets his old friends. But then again the movie picks up its pace. Gibson is awesome throughout the movie, especially when he gets angry (Mad Max). There are some good scenes with Kirby (William H. Marcy) who plays Gibson’s buddy and mentor. The camera work is good gazing through Gibson’s eye showing character’s depth. The movie is a must-watch for the fans of Mel Gibson. It’s great to see him back again in this action drama movie. The movie is directed by Jean-François Richet who has done a great job. The movie reminds of Liam Nesson’s character in “Taken” franchise. This could be the comeback movie of Mel Gibson.

Pete’s Dragon (2016) Movie Review

The movie is directed by David Lowery who is known for directing Ain’t Them Bodes Saints. This movie revolves around a boy named Pete (Oakes Fegley) who lost his parents and his best friend is Elliot, who happens to be a dragon. The boy lives in the woods with his friend. The first human Pete observes is a forest ranger. The character of forest ranger Grace is very well portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard. Grace was tracking down the endangered species in the woods. Grace’s husband Jack (Wes Bentley) cuts down trees for a living. Grace’s brother Gavin (Karl Urban) helps him out. Gavin has more inclined to hunting and when finds out about the dragon, the things starts turning. The background score is also impressive. The movie is based on the relationship between the characters. The relationship between Pete and the dragon is the highlight of the movie. The CGI effects done on creating the dragon is the most beautiful part of the movie. While watching the movie you can relate to the dragon. You can feel the feelings and watch the emotions of the dragon. It is a heartfelt story. The movie also deals with the issues like deforestation and nature conservation. It is a delight to watch the dragon. The movie is little melodramatic and it runs over 90 minutes. The movie could have been shortened. This movie reminds me of movie Dragonheart. It is not as good as the recent Jungle Book but it is good heartfelt adventure fantasy movie.

Finally, the wait is over. Most of you know the plot of the movie. A secret government agency recruits a group of psychedelically twisted baddies. The movie is written and directed by David Ayer. David Ayer has written good movies like Training Day and Fury. The movie reminds me of the classic The Dirty Dozen and The Magnificent Seven. The movie is great to watch with all of these eccentric characters. I would suggest do not go to theaters with high hopes, as some of you may get disappointed. But overall I liked the movie. Deadshot (Will Smith) is great to watch. Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) is brilliant. The script tries to give a slight background of each character to justify each of them. Will Smith handles the job perfectly with his own style and gives depth to the character. Margot Robbie was a total surprise package in the movie. She is awesome to watch. It was good to watch Ben Affleck as Batman. Captain Boomerang played by Jai Courtney is worth watching. Surprisingly he has also done a damn good job. The chemistry between the characters is good. The other actors also stand out like Joel Kinneman, Viola Davis, Scott Eastwood and Adam Beach. Now let us come to the character that you all wanted to know. The Joker is absolutely brilliant. It is neither Jack Nicholson nor Heath Ledger, it’s the combination of both. Every scene of Joker is worth watching where Jared Leto doing his own thing. Though the role of the Joker is very limited so don’t raise your expectations. The background music is also impressive. The movie seems little dark. Overall the movie focusses on the characters as well as on the CGI effects. I did not want to get into the details a lot as it will spoil the fun for all of us. Go watch the movie and enjoy yourself.
