One psychic in order to hunt down a psychotic serial killer. The movie is directed by Afonso Poyart. John Clancy (Hopkins) portrays a retired police doctor who happens to have psychic powers, including the ability to see the future. Joe Merriwether (Jeffery Dean Morgan) a former FBI agents needs John’s help in finding a serial killer. John is teamed up with a partner FBI agent Katherine Cowles (Abbie Cornish) to find the killer. Later John realizes that killer also has same and greater psychic powers than his own. John muses “He sees things, only he is a lot better at it.” John also finds out that one thing that is common to every victim that they were suffering from diseases that eventually result in painful death. Finally comes killer Charles Ambrose (Farrell) who is always several steps ahead of the FBI team. The psychic elements are handled well. I liked the chemistry between Katherine and John reminds me of the movie Silence of the Lambs; FBI agent Clarice and Hannibal Lecter. The thrilling point is when the killer knows the future then how you are supposed to catch him. The second thing is the killer is doing a favor to the victims killing them with less agony. Both Hopkins and Farrell have done a great job. The movie is a dark thriller and I enjoyed a lot. The movie is on the same line as Se7en, Zodiac or The Silence of the Lambs. The movie is not a classic but clever serial killer.
